Edgewater West Community Development District
The Edgewater West Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes as amended and established on February 23, 2024 by the Board of County Commissioners of Osceola County, Ordinance No. 2024-13 as an alternative method of planning, acquiring, operating and maintaining community-wide improvements in planned communities.
The Edgewater West CDD is located entirely within the boundaries of Osceola County, Florida and covers approximately 1,378.542 acres of land. The real property within the boundaries of the District is east of Lake Tohopekaliga, west of the Florida Turnpike with open space to the north and south.
The exclusive charter for the District shall be the uniform community development district charter (Uniform Charter) as set forth in Florida Statutes 190. The Uniform Charter grants certain general and special powers. The District may exercise the additional powers to finance, fund, plan, establish, acquire, construct, reconstruct, enlarge or extend, equip, operate and maintain systems, and facilities for parks and facilities for indoor and outdoor recreational, cultural and educational uses, and for security, all as authorized and described by Sections 190.012(2)(a) and (2)(d), Florida Statutes).
